Mackie 406M Powered Mixer Reviews 5

I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. My first guitar lesson was when I was 10 years old. I play guitar and mandolin. Currently i'm playing in a folk/bluegrass trio, and a four-piece rock band. My musical tastes range from rock, folk, blues, jazz.

I was looking for a new mixer for our band. I needed something versatile, that I could use for an acoustic trio and a small rock band. I bought it new from Guitar canter for $499.

I've had the Mackie 406M Powered Mixer for about 2 years now, and it's been fantastic! Plenty of power for a small acoustic or rock group. It's laid out nicely, easy to use, and has lots of nice features. The preamps are top notch, and will make your vocals sound great. The onboard effects are nice too, and give you a wide range of options to color your sound. It's well built, and can withstand heavy use. You can switch between mains out or monitors out, which is also a nice feature and makes the unit more versatile. For our acoustic band we use it to run the mains and monitors. For our rock band we use it to run the mains, and use a separate amp for the monitors. Hook-up is a breeze, and there's even an in-out for a CD or tape deck. Great value!

Not much to dislike here. If you need more power, step up to the Mackie 808M.

Very well constructed, quality electronics, durable cover, has a handle on the side so you can carry it easily.

I think this mixer is a great value for the price. 6 channels, onboard effects, nice mic-pre's. A quality powered mixer, great for clubs, practice, and at a great price!
